Reflections

I often hear my 3 year old say, “I’m not good at this,” or “I cannot do it,” in relation to tasks any adult would consider simple.

He often gives up after only a few attempts.

Of course, that’s not how things work in my family and we continue to approach the problem with well-placed hints until he solves the issue.

But today when it happened, I felt as though I were looking in a mirror.

How often do we come up against problems we’re more than capable of solving, only to determine, “I can’t do this.”?

Seeing my reflection in my son, I’m reminded that I’m often just a few unseen steps away from success. Even when it comes to my most stubborn and frustrating problems.

We’re all in need a few well-placed hints or helping hands and a big dose of encouragement to just keep going.

That’s often all that separates us from success.
