Find Your People

Social media does one of two things:

Either social media uses you

Or

You use social media

I know this is a bit abstract, but think about it…

If you’re not in control of your social media, then it is likely controlling you.

You are responsible for your life.

That’s it. No one else.

If you accept that as true, then you must also accept that you are in control of your social media.

I swallowed this truth recently and it has made an enormous difference in my life.

I used to check social media compulsively just to check in on friends or whatever.

When I swallowed the truth above, I realized that I no longer care what most of my friends post on social media.

That may sound harsh, but you have to define WHY you are using social media.

I don’t use social media to stay in touch with people (I can do that with phone calls or texts).

I use social media to learn and grow.

As a direct result, I unfollowed almost all of my friends on social media. The majority of them were posting personal updates and I can get that from them myself. I don’t need a social platform to get those updates.

I started following people smarter and more clever than me on social media and that has made a tremendous difference.

So I’d recommend you give it a shot.

If you don’t have the balls to unfollow your friends, then create another account and follow only the accounts you learn from. Don’t follow any of your friends.
See which one is more useful over the next 30-60 days.

Report back.

Then decide what to do next.

I imagine your results will be much the same as my discoveries.
