Stop Selling

Don't sell in every email you send out.

If you've read any of my other recent articles, then you know I'm a proponent of leveraging your email list in order to generate revenue.

But, one of the biggest mistakes I see businesses make in this area is that that's all they ever do.

Sell.

But if you're on an email list that sells to you in EVERY. SINGLE. EMAIL. Well, you're probably not on that list anymore, or you won't be for long.

Sometimes, you should just give people stuff.

That's it. Pretty simple.

Give. No strings attached.

That's likely why these people joined your list in the first place.

Call if whatever you want while still being honest, but you should be providing value in one form or another.

It could be a simple written lesson about something, or a PDF template that might help them save time.

Heck, it could be a free side of queso WITHOUT the stipulation of having to buy something (I'm looking at you Moe's).

Just give something away.

People will remember the way that made them feel.

They'll also remember the way you made them feel if you sell to them nonstop without providing tangible value.

So go above and beyond in providing value so that when you ask for the sale, it's a no-brainer.

We get in the habit of telling stories and talking about our products, but we forget that on the other side of those emails are people. Those are people who, at first, might have cared about our emails. But now they’re tired of the BS. They don’t want to be sold all the time. Sometimes they just want free stuff.

So let's give them what they want.
