What Would You Do With $40,000?
I've been involved in hiring about a half dozen people just this year. As a result I've interviewed a lot of people and I'm getting pretty good at having those conversations and digging deep enough to ask the questions that matter.
I'm a gut-feeling person so I can usually tell pretty quickly whether or not someone is a good fit or not for the role/company.
With that in mind, I usually like to ask a couple questions just to screw with people a little bit. Especially if I know it will catch them off guard. That's how you get the most telling answers.
But, my favorite question to ask in almost any interview is this:
If someone gave you $40,000 to start a business, what would you do with it?
Most people are caught off guard by that question. You can learn a lot about how people view money and their level of responsibility by their answer to this question.
So, I'm curious. What would you do? If today someone walked up to you and said I believe in you, here's $40,000 to start a business...what would you do?
How would you leverage that money to make more money?
I love these kind of questions that keep us on our toes. I'm always on the lookout for other great questions like this.
So if you had $40K, what would you do with it? I'm actually curious.
